M16A4 Survival Weapon Guides

Description

Hey there. By looking at the pic above, you know that this is my zombie survival weapon guides. And I’ll be covering the first Assault Rifle, The M16A4.

The M16A4 is the only three-round burst rifle and the fourth generation of the M16 series. The M16 rifle family was developed by the US company ArmaLite. The first rifle M16A1 entered United States Army service and was deployed for jungle warfare operations in South Vietnam in 1963, becoming the U.S. military's standard service rifle of the Vietnam War by 1969. Since then the M16 rifle family has been the primary service rifle of the U.S armed forces. In the early 1960s, the U.S. Air Force's rifle, the M16, and the Army's XM16E1, were the first versions of the M16 rifle fielded. Soon, the U.S. Army standardized an upgrade of the XM16E1 as the M16A1 rifle, an M16 with a forward assist feature and other improvements requested by the Army. All of the early versions were chambered to fire the M193/M196 cartridge in the semi-automatic and the automatic firing modes. The most recent version the M16A4 was introduced in 1996 and it was standard issue for the United States Marine Corps and some other US army units. The M16A4 is an high damage rifle which fires the three round burst. Although the down side of it is that the damage will drop off in longer range, which requires two three-burst shots to take down a target (Unless the target is hit on the head). Although the rate of fire is low due to the M16A4 being a three-round burst weapon, it’s recoil is low The M16A4 has some advantage against the undead targets, which it takes one three-burst fire to kill a zombie in the upper chest or head. Living targets, however would take cover, so a well aimed shot is needed. For those who are having trouble with the iron sights, perhaps some optic attachments would help make a clearer view of the target.

The Holographic sight is an helpful attachment. It provides a clearer view of the target and slightly increases zoom level but it’s rarely noticeable. So for those who don’t like the iron sights of the M16A4, use the Holographic sight.

Due to a low recoil, the ACOG Scope for the M16A4 is not a bad attachment at all due to good accuracy of the M16A4. This is useful for counter-sniper role and take down infected targets at longer range. However with the ACOG, this could lead the M16A4 a disadvange in closer range. So it best to use the Holographic sight.

The Night vision scope is the same. Though it sounds useful for the M16A4 by seeing targets in dark areas, nightfall or during rain storms but it’s not very useful during daylight and during that daylight, its best to fire from the hip but the M16A4 isn’t good with hip fire accuracy. So I’d give the Night vision scope a miss.

There are some other attachments that could go well with the Holographic sight. Then again if anyone is okay with the iron sights, then perhaps two non optic attachments would give them an upper hand.

The Tactical light is an supportive attachment to the M16A4. It’ll help you see better in the dark but bear in mind that the zombies will notices you. Unless you’re not worried about stealth and concern what lurking in the dark at night time, then go ahead and use the tactical light.

The laser sight attachment will improve hip fire accuracy, tightening hip fire spread of the M16A4. However you’ll be in a disadvantage in close quarters with a group of zombies breathing down your neck. So you might be better with something else besides the laser sight.

Dual mags sounds like good attachment but there’s no need increase the M16A4’s fast reload time. However with dual mags, it’ll increase limited supply of ammunition. So you wouldn’t have to worry about running dry.

Extended mags will increase mag size up 45 rounds instead of 30. But there’s no point of extending mag size, since three-burst round rifles are not needed for extended mags. Unless you’re worried about reloading, then by all means use the extended mags. But still the M16A4 can take down multiple targets before needing to reload.

Last but not least, the Silencer. It’s partly useful for stealthy roles. However with the M16A4 suppressed, it’ll slightly lose its effective range and damage. Which means there’s a less chance of killing a target with one three-round burst fire. But on the plus side, the infected or living targets won’t notices you til it’s too late.

Out of all these attachments I’d recommend the Holographic sight and dual mags for assault role. You can also use the ACOG scope for counter-sniper role and longer range encounters. You can also use the silencer stealth role. One of my OC, Lilli Taylor, is not much interested in fully automatic weapons such as SMGs, LMGs and Assault rifles. Although sometimes she would use SMGs but not much as shotgun type weapons. The M16A4 is Lilli’s favourite rifle, due to having the longest range of all assault rifles.

With the effective range of the M16A4, this loadout link below will be a military/team player, M16A4 load out.

Even though the M16A4 suffers in close quarters it’s best to have shotgun (Any shotgun) to fill in the gap. Pistols may be useful but due to the M16A4’s weapon switch time, shotguns are more reliable for close quarter defence. Even though the Tactical light attachment is not necessary, shotguns with tactical light may require, as you don’t know what’s hiding in darkness til it’s too late and firing blindly is a very bad idea, even with your teammates.

During the outbreak, if zombies are on high alert of your presents, do not panic. M16A4 demands accuracy and careful shooting. Remain calm and focus and take down each zombies one by one. And when encountering living targets, get behind cover and your opponents will find it hard taking you out. And they’ll find that the M16A4 is very lethal in mid-long range and in the right hands.

Thanks for reading this description and please join me next time where I’ll be covering the SAS favourite weapon, the MP5. Til then, have a nice day.

M60 next I bet, have massive ammo capacity/firepower over other weapons. beneli M104 shotgun as another weapon or spas-12 instead. Or whatever you like, just a suggestion
